What you do next is your callThis is not a free report with no strings. To receive the grant you agree to implement energy-saving measures worth at least the value of the grant, within three years of the audit being completed. That obligation forms part of the grant agreement with SEDA. It is not something Susten adds.
We say this before you apply rather than after, for two reasons. It is your commitment and your money, so you should weigh it properly. And if a building is not prepared to act on what an audit finds, the grant is the wrong instrument. Better to establish that now than three years from now.
Two separate things point at the same appointment. A grant that funds the work, and a statute that obliges it. The registrations that unlock the first are the same ones that satisfy the second, which is why the sequence is worth getting right.
We meter the plant as it actually runs, not as it was designed to run: low load, peak load, after hours and at weekends. The output is a measured baseline, the specific losses we found, and what each one is worth to recover.
A notified building must appoint a Registered Energy Manager within three months, complete a first audit through a Registered Energy Auditor within twelve, and put an energy management system in place within twelve months of that appointment. Measures are then implemented across a five-year cycle and reported annually.

Nothing is recorded and nothing is sent. This runs entirely in your browser, so you can get a straight read, including a negative one, before you talk to anybody.
The more you can tell us about consumption, the faster we can say whether the grant is worth pursuing. If it is not, we will tell you that too.
If the grant application succeeds, your direct cost is nothing. What it does cost is access and time. We need to get at your plant, your meters and your utility bills, and someone on your side needs to be available to us.
You are under no obligation to appoint Susten for any implementation work. You are, however, bound by the grant condition to implement efficiency measures worth at least the grant value within three years, with whoever you choose. That obligation is to SEDA, not to us.
Because it is how we find work, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. The audit tells us whether your building has recoverable waste worth engineering out. If it does, we would like to quote for it. If it does not, we have both learned something useful at the government's expense rather than yours.
No. You have to appoint an ESCO registered with the Energy Commission. That is a grant requirement. Susten is one. There are others, and you are free to appoint any of them.
Not for the grant. They are separate things. It is worth knowing either way, because the Energy Commission's list of regulated buildings is not public and the compliance deadlines are tight once notification arrives.
Usually within a week for the initial read. The grant application and approval sit with SEDA and take longer. The audit itself runs about two months once it begins.
