That is the first thing worth knowing about us, because it is the question everyone has and almost nobody asks. We are a small, senior, engineering-led company in Kuala Lumpur, and we sign agreements that outlast most of the buildings' management teams. Here is who we are and how we are built to carry that.
Susten is an ESCO. We audit a building's energy use, redesign and rebuild the systems wasting the most of it, and then operate and measure what we built. The distinction from a contractor is not a matter of positioning. A contractor is paid for installing equipment and is finished when it is commissioned. We are paid out of the savings, for as long as the contract runs, so we are still there in year eight when the performance either held or did not.
In this climate the largest and most recoverable waste is almost always thermal, which is why cooling plant is where most of our delivered work sits. It is not the boundary of the company. Heat that is thrown away, control logic nobody has revisited in a decade, and plant running hard against a load that is not there are all the same problem wearing different clothes.
Two co-founders and a CTO leading the engineering, with a team in which nearly everyone is within one step of a real machine.

Leads everything internal. Built the commercial model the company runs on, read the regulatory shift early, and drove the creation of the cloud energy management system.
Leads the core engineering: custom chiller design, plant systems and control engineering. The technical signature on what goes into a client's building.
Behind them sit project and site engineering, IoT, business development led by an engineer, operations and admin. About ten people in total. That is small for the size of the assets we build, and we would rather you heard it from this page than worked it out in a meeting.
What it buys you. There is no account manager between you and the person who designed your plant. Decisions do not queue behind a regional office. When something is wrong at two in the morning, the people who can fix it are the people who built it.
What it costs you. We cannot run unlimited projects at once, and we say no more often than a larger firm would. When a project is not a fit we would rather tell you in the first conversation than take it and stretch.
These are not a poster in reception. Each one has cost us something, which is the only test that matters.
Say the true thing, especially when it costs. We would rather challenge a client's assumption early than agree politely and be wrong together later.
Owners, not renters. If you see a problem it is yours. Act, then align.
Claims are cheap and the meter is not. We report the number even when it disappoints, and we have corrected our own published figures against our own interest.
We build for the real building, the real load and the real climate, never for the catalogue. Anyone can resell a chiller.
Wasted energy, wasted money, wasted time. Cutting waste is not a service line. It is the reason the company exists.
An energy audit, funded by the government, on a building you already own. If it turns out there is little to recover, we will say so and that will be the end of it.
